A Lisnaskea man has been remanded in custody after appearing in Dungannon Magistrates Court.
Noel Copeland (61) of Trasna Way is alleged to have unlawfully assaulted a female, resisted a Police Officer and used behaviour where a breach of the peace was likely.
The investigating officer took the witness stand and, under oath, he confirmed he could connect the accused who, the Court was told, was arrested on November 20th.
The witness explained that Police were tasked to a domestic incident in which Copeland's wife alleged she had been assaulted, and that it had been going on for some time.
There had also been an incident the previous night which she had declined to report, but the more recent attack had been 'the final straw' and she had decided it was time action was taken.
Attending Police had found Copeland 'intoxicated, aggressive and agitated' on arrival, leading to his arrest.
The injured party was not hurt on this occasion as Copeland had attempted to throw a punch, but due to his drunken state his wife was able to avoid contact. The officer said he had then turned his aggression on Police, using foul language, shouting continuously and pulling away.
The Court heard that two Police officers had to 'forcibly' take the accused from the house as he refused to move.
In Court, no application was made for bail as a suitable address had yet to be approved by Police.
Copeland was remanded to appear by video-link at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on December 1.
