Getting back to real music

No IPTC Header found

For those who know good music, the First Enniskillen Arts Festival, from the 17 to 26 November, will be taking audiences on an alternative and freshly tuned creative journey of a high quality self-perpetuating and definitive kind. During the Festival's eclectic full on mixed goodie bag and busy 10-day programme, Enniskillen will provide our ears and eyes with plenty of stimuli and banish the winter blues buttons.

Legends of Irish traditional music will appear alongside Masters of the English & Scottish Tradition. Sounds of Rockabilly, Cajun, Blues and Jazz will rub shoulders with Punk, Classical & Red Hot Rock n Roll.

Arts Officer, Diane Henshaw says: "Enniskillen's First Arts Festival will be one of those festivals you will never forget. It is a music festival infused with a strong purist and contemporary vision comprising music, visual arts, drama, literature, comedy, carnival and contemporary dance.

"The main focus is music," she explains. "There's something for everyone in this bag – it'll be honey to the ears. And one of this festivals greatest strengths will be the wide plethora of good grass roots and national talent giving the ten days an interesting simmer and heart warming fill of good tuneful winter broth.

"A broad range of venues across Enniskillen will play host to bands, from Portora Royal School, Mount Lourdes Grammar School, The Higher Bridges Gallery, the Railway Hotel, St Macartan's Cathedral, St. Michael's Chapel, along with several of the intimate pubs and restaurants of the town. The programme contains 73 creative events and a programme of workshop's by the Traditional Musicians in Residence Fermanagh Traditional Music Society who pioneered the Hidden Fermanagh CD's and includes many free sessions and cultural events throughout the 10-day gathering".

Tickets can be booked at the Arts Office, Tel: 028 66325050
