Members of Kesh Senior Citizens Club, known as Kesh Evergreens, have recently come together to celebrate their 25 years as a club.
Members were joined by their family, friends and guests from other clubs at a special lunchtime event at the Drumrush Lodge, Kesh on Wednesday last.
Almost 180 people enjoyed a buffet lunch followed by an afternoon of music and dancing, entertainment and good fellowship.
This is the second major event the club has organised to celebrate their Silver Jubilee.
Earlier in the year, the club held a 'Jubilee Dinner' in the Woodhill Hunting Lodge, Irvinestown and this highly enjoyable event was preceded by a two hour cruise on Lough Erne aboard the, 'Lady of the Erne'.
This event was for members of the Kesh Evergreens only, while the more recent afternoon event provided a chance for members to share their anniversary with their friends, family and members of other senior citizens clubs from around the area.
Secretary of the club, John Brogden, reported that it was attended by senior citizens from clubs in Kilskeery, Pettigo, Belleek, Irvinestown as well as many other clubs throughout the county and beyond.
Kesh Evergreens was founded in September 1982 and, since then the group has been meeting on the third Thursday of every month - from September through to June each year.
Initially, the club consisted of 13 members but by Christmas of that year another five people had joined. From these small beginnings 25 years ago the club now boasts 56 members, with many of the founder members still actively involved in the club..
One member who has been involved from the start is Mrs Anne Flynn. Anne was invited to help set up the club back in 1982 and has been a faithful, enthusiastic and industrious member, taking on much of the responsibility of organising and running the club.
Anne served as Chairperson for 23 years before she stood down from office in 2005. Anne is still an enthusiastic and active member and her knowledge, experience and advice is sought and much appreciated by the present management team.
In appreciation of her long and dedicated service to the club, she was presented with a 'Certificate of Excellence' at the Jubilee Dinner in June this year by the present Chairperson.
Anne also had the honour of cutting the cake, while fellow long serving members Betty Johnston and Evelyn Parke were also awarded 'Long Service Certificates'.
