ardhowen

The highlight of Ardhowen's programme this week is the concert on Saturday night 11th November by The Three Tenors in an evening of great music. It's great to see them back at Ardhowen Theatre once again with a great new show that features light and popular songs, Irish songs, classic arias and of course 'Nessun Dorma'. Direct from sell out concerts in Belfast's Waterfront Hall and Dublin's Helix Theatre, the show has had huge support on this current Irish tour and will be a wonderful evening at the theatre.

The Three Tenors are John Scott, compared in some circles to the immortal Mario Lanza and probably the most powerful tenor voice in Ireland, David Martin, who trained in Italy under world renowned tenor Ugo Benelli and has played in concerts and opera houses in many countries, and Eugene Ginty who has performed in over thirty countries including the U.S.A., Canada, Japan, China, Germany, Italy, France etc. and has performed recently at London's Royal Albert Hall as well as in a fine production of 'The Magic Flute' in Boston U.S.A. These three magnificent voices will be joined on stage by a top soprano and a truly outstanding violinist. Flair, gusto, superb voice blend and versatility are all in evidence in what will be a special autumn concert on the Ardhowen stage.

The best of Eagles tour

The fabulous Talon, widely accepted in the business as the finest 'Eagles' tribute band in the world, bring their amazing and spectacular show once again to the Ardhowen stage. Labelled 'Hell Freezes Over Revisited Part 2' this wonderful tribute to one of the all time great bands has to be seen to be believed and is a vocal and musical spectacular of all the 'Eagles' timeless and classic hits.

After almost a decade together, Talon's authentic replication of arguably one of the most influential and instantly recognisable bands from America's West Coast, have now established themselves as the closest thing to the real deal. 'We never broke up, we just took a fourteen year vacation' heralded the opening night of The Eagles 'Hell Freezes Over Tour' in 1994.

Now Talon revisit and recreate that memorable comeback in the first half of their stunning new show for 2006. In the second half, Talon bring it smack up to date with highlights from the Eagles current Farewell I Tour, which once again confirmed the popularity of the songs by making them the biggest grossing box office band of all time. 'Lyin' Eyes', 'Hotel California', 'Peaceful Easy Feeling', 'Take It to The Limit', 'Best Of My Love', 'Life In The Fast Lane', 'New Kid In Town', 'Heartache Tonight', 'Wasted Time', 'Tequila Sunrise', 'Desperado'.... The hits go on and on.....What's your favourite?

Talon's new show also features hits from the individual solo years of Henley, Walsh and Frey plus new songs as featured in their current 2006 Farewell I Tour. From the stunning five part harmonies to the instantly recognisable guitar solos, timeless melodies and awesome amounts of ability and talent, Talon's new show will guarantee to be not just a concert – but an event!

"When it comes to recreating the legendary sound of the Eagles, Talon are unequalled" Classic Hits Radio.

Tribute to a legend

On Saturday 18th November at 8.00pm, Ardhowen Theatre plays host to the 'Heart Of Gold' tour, a tribute to the legendary rock and folk singer Neil Young. Neil Young himself was born in Canada in 1945, growing up in Winnipeg Canada.

His particular style of hammer on acoustic guitar and soloing on electric guitar are the key to his consistently evocative sound. His best known work falls either into two distinctive styles; acoustic, country-tinged folk rock, as heard in such songs as 'Heart Of Gold', 'Harvest Moon' and 'Old Man' and crunchy, electric hard rock, in songs like 'Cinnamon Girl', 'Rockin' In The Free World' and 'Hey Hey Hey Into The Black'.

Young first came to prominence as a member of the folk –rock band Buffalo Springfield in the mid 60's and then as a solo performer backed by the band Crazy Horse. He reached his commercial peak during the singer-songwriter boom of the early 1970's with the albums 'After The Gold Rush' and 'Harvest', as well as with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and their legendary appearance at Woodstock.

Neil Young is currently touring once again in 2006 with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young on their 'Freedom Of Speech' tour performing their 'Living With War' album songs all over the United States to ecstatic acclaim.

The current 'Heart Of Gold' tour which is a tribute to this living legend is playing venues all over Ireland. The excellent band of musicians create the ethos and versatility of this great performer covering all his individual and album tracks in an amazing evening of music - well worth coming to see.
