It has been an outstanding season for Clogher Table Tennis Club with five junior players selected for Ulster and two for the under-18 NI team.
Indeed, players have also played all over Ireland at individual tournaments and school team competitions, as well as in local leagues.
The club hosted the second Ulster junior ability tournament, as well as training sessions for the Southern area squad where Irish International Keith Knox joined the players for training.
Polish coach Thomas Openhowski has also assisted the club coaches.
The club also continues to forge strong links with Newbliss Table Tennis Club in County Monaghan who also practice in their local Presbyterian Church hall.
Top junior player this year was Ashley Robinson who was selected for the British observation group with ten other players from all over the UK who aim to make it into the elite squad in preparation for the 2012 London Olympics. At local level, Ashley also came runner-up in the Fermanagh Division One Championships behind Irish veteran player Jeremy Lappin. Currently, Ashley is training in China.
Another promising young club player is ten-year-old Jonathan Porter, who is in Poland training with a group of players under his fathers' guidance.
In the local leagues, players benefit most from the competition and with six teams competing in the Fermanagh and Greystone Leagues it has been a hectic season at the Clogher Club with three of the teams winning silverware.
Club training recommences early August in preparation for the new season and the UK School Games, with two international coaches available for 20 sessions. Any new players, especially primary pupils, welcome. Contact Club coaches for more details and all players must book sessions in advance.
