Enniskillen gets ready to party at First-ever Street Carnival

It may be November, and it's not quite Rio, but that's not going to stop people dancing to the beat of the Samba bands when Enniskillen's first ever street Carnival kicks off on Saturday 25th November at 4pm. The name & theme of the Carnival is light and the spotlight will certainly be on Enniskillen when people get to see the spectacular range of large scale, props, lanterns, costumes, street theatre, samba bands etc. on display during the carnival.

Preparations for the Carnival of light have been going on for many

months and have involved the setting up of many different groups around the county who have been working with Carnival Artist Genevieve Murphy to produce some terrific props and costumes from fluttering beacon butterflies, to giant large peacocks strutting their stuff, it will be a sight to behold!

The Carnival of Light will start at Gaol Square Fermanagh College at 4: 00pm and will go down through the town centre ending at Top shop with it final destination of Fermanagh District Council Townhall Carpark.

If you want to take part in the carnival it is advised that you arrive no later than 2:00pm for the pre Carnival party of Face painting, performances and Samba music.

The Carnival of light is funded by the Art of Regeneration programme

The Art of Regeneration programme is a 4-year community Arts Programme for Co. Fermanagh. Fermanagh District Council has secured funding for four years from the Arts council of Northern Ireland and is in Partnership with the Share Centre Lisnaskea to deliver these major arts outreach initiative in 5 creative disciplines.
