Summer season continues with Fame Academy

Ardhowen's Summer Season of entertainment continues this Friday 30th June at 8.00pm with the hugely talented and popular BBC 'Fame Academy' star Malachi Cush in concert. Malachi grew up in a family steeped in Irish folk and country music and is related to the one and only Philomena Begley.

In 2002 he took the television screens by storm when selected from thousands of applicants he reached the pinnacle of the show and became known all over these islands.

His success on 'Fame Academy' earned him a recording contract with Mercury/Universal and his first album 'Malachi' sold over 100,000 copies.

A winner at the Irish World Music Awards in London in 2005, Malachi was anxious to get back into the recording studio and to start touring. He began work on an album based on the Irish folk and popular ballads he grew up with.

'Celtic Heartbeat' was the outcome and Malachi will include some of his favourite songs from this album in his Ardhowen concert which should be hugely enjoyable and popular

Comedy Thriller

Bangor Drama Club bring their comedy thriller 'Heatstroke' by Eric Chappell to the Ardhowen Theatre for three nights on 6th, 7th and 8th July at 8.00pm.

It's a funny and highly entertaining farce from the man who wrote the play 'Rising Damp' which was turned into a hugely successful sitcom with Leonard Rossiter.

Thankfully, it isn't often that summer holidays are interrupted by the threat of dismemberment but that's just one of the many predicaments faced by the characters in this frantic comedy.

The plot revolves around a double-booked villa in Spain where the Spencers arrive for a peaceful holiday. They are closely followed by actor Howard Booth and his girlfriend who have also booked the villa.

A mix up of matching holdalls and the arrival of the sinister Raynor leads to the discovery of ? million pounds.

Confusion reigns as moments of sheer farce mix with tension and mystery as this hilarious comedy thriller reaches its conclusion.

First Lady of Country Music

Referred to by many as 'Ireland's First Lady of Country Music', Susan McCann makes a welcome return to the Ardhowen Theatre on Friday 14th July at 8.00pm.

Susan has performed all over the world, including South Africa, Russia, Switzerland, Great Britain and the United States and her legions of admirers now have another chance to see her live and enjoy her very professional and popular show.

Other Events

Belvoir Players bring yet another production of a Sam Cree comedy to the theatre for three nights on 20th, 21st, and 22nd July at 8.00pm with the well known and popular comedy 'Don't Tell The Wife', while on the 27th, 28th and 29th July at 8.00pm, Southbank Players from Belfast continue the theme of comedy theatre when they perform Noel Cowards sophisticated comedy 'Hay Fever'.
