Culinary success for St Fanchea's pupils

Two pupils from St. Fanchea's College in Enniskillen are celebrating having won the Junior Section of a schools cookery competition.

Laura Dempster and Shannon Smith, two year ten pupils at St. Fancheas', along with a number of fellow pupils from the school, took part in the Healthy Eating cookery competition held in Lismullin Hospitality Centre in Navan recently and the pair won the Junior Section of the competition.

St. Fanchea's was the only school from Northern Ireland to take place in the competition and all the six girls from the College performed very well cooking up various healthy treats.

All the Enniskillen pupils who travelled to the competition, with their teacher Geraldine Boyle, are in Year 10 and they all had to prepare a two course meal as well as completing a short written presentation on the importance of healthy eating.

Winners Laura and Shannon cooked up a mango and ginger stir fry with noodles and followed this with a raspberry and passion fruit dessert.
