Batty Chat at Crom

Crom Estate is going Batty next week with the return of the Bat Night

If you haven't yet experienced a Bat Night at Crom, don't miss the return of the Bat Detectives on Thursday 2nd August at 8.30pm.

The evening kicks off with an informative and entertaining slide show and then, as darkness falls, visitors will be invited outside to watch bats emerging from their roosts, as well as spotting them as they hunt for insects along the woodland edge and along the lake shore. A truly magnificent spectacle.

A recent monitoring event has shown that Crom has a population of well over 2,000 bats and is one of the best places in Northern Ireland for these nocturnal creatures to be seen.

All eight species that occur in the north can be found roosting and feeding at Crom. There is certainly plenty of opportunity for the novice and the enthusiastic wildlife explorer.

Warm weatherproof clothing, walking shoes and a torch are advisable. As places are limited for this fascinating bat night, it is advisable to book in advance. Children are welcome. Admission is £3.50 for adults, £2.00 for children and £10 per family.

For further information on events at Crom please contact the Crom Visitor Centre on 028 6773 8118.
