The standard of competition this year was extremely high and although the Club did not take 1st place titles the girls were pleased that their efforts were rewarded in the top 7.
In the Adult Newcomer Open- Sisters Patricia and Geraldine Haren took 2nd and 3rd places and Aisling Reilly Finished in 4th. The girls danced two dances, one in Smooth and also a Funky. In Division 3 Junior Samantha Gallagher was placed third. She also danced a Smooth and a Cha. In Division 4 Junior Catrionna Bannon also was placed third dancing a Polka and a Cha. In Primary Novice Under 8, Louise Foy was placed fourth dancing a Smooth and a Funky.
This was Louise's first time dancing in this competition and she was supported by her family and friends who travelled with her.
The Class teacher, Mary Wray was overwhelmed with the overall results but states also that the girls have all trained well in advance of this event, attending technique workshops and taking time out of their weekly jobs.
All of the girls familes travelled in support and they to were delighted with the overall results. Mary would also like to acknowledge the other dancers who reached the top ten positions and also our newcomers who participated for the first time. The Club is now preparing for the All Ireland line Dance Championship Finals to be held in Castlebar on May 2nd.
