Film Club to show 'Days of Glory'

Fermanagh Film Club's next film, on Tuesday 11th March, is 'Days of Glory'.

This is a French, Moroccan, Algerian and Belgian collaboration directed by Rachid Bouchareb

It received a well deserved Best Actor award in Cannes in 2006. Remarkably, all five leading actors received the award jointly

'Days of Glory' follows the fate of five patriotic Algerian and Moroccan soldiers fighting on the French side in the second World War. It traces their journey through France, Italy into Alsace.

The French title " Indigenes", (Natives) highlights the powerful message underlying the film. This is one of racism and injustice perpetrated by the French army against their colonial soldiers. This culminated, after the war, by the removal of war pensions to the North African troops when they gained their political independence in the 1960's

This is a dramatic and psychologically challenging film well worth seeing.

It will be shown on Tuesday 11th March at 8 pm at Fermanagh House, Broadmeadow Place Enniskillen. Non- members are welcome and every effort will be made to accommodate them.
