A book, which will recreate what life was like in Boho in former days is currently being produced by the hard working members of Boho Heritage Organisation.
Boho Heritage Organisation was established in December 2004. Since then, a very active and hardworking committee, representative of all ages and traditions, have been responsible for a renewed awakening and appreciation of the rich history of their local area.
The committee have already researched and produced a video of Boho, called 'Boho in Bygone Days' and also a heritage map. The video and map sold hundreds of copies and have made their way to all five continents which goes to show how much they were appreciated by Boho people both at home and abroad.
For the past three years the committee have being working on a book about Boho. The editorial team consists of Edel Bannon, Louise McLaughlin and Cecilia Flanagan. Sadly, one of this committee, Cecilia Flanagan, has left to go travelling this year, but before her departure she has already put a lot of work into the book.
It is hoped that the book will be published before Christmas 2008 and, to date, the committee have been greatly encouraged by the support of the local people who have entrusted them with precious photographs, letters, diaries, material from World War 1 and 2, bills etc. which are helping the committee to create a picture of Boho in former days.
Talking about the project Edel Bannon said, "Boho is rich in archaeology, history, folklore, and culture so we have a wonderful story to tell."
"Our dearest wish is that every family in Boho would be represented in the book. So we are making a final appeal to anyone out there who has old photographs or anything old or historical relating to Boho to alert us to it so that the book can be as complete as possible.
"We encourage you to search the attic and the back of drawers and you might be very surprised what you would find," continued Edel.
The popular ceiling sessions, which feature a history talk on the local area, refreshments and an entertainment slot have a regular attendance of over 100 people, not just from the locality but from all over Fermanagh.
Boho Heritage Organisation have received tremendous support from the people of Boho for all their activities and are hugely thankful for this help and support.
If you have anything you would like to be included in the book, please contact Louise McLaughlin at the Community Centre, phone 028- 66341177 or Edel Bannon at 028-66341197 or e-mail 'bohoheritage@btinternet.com' before Easter.
"We gratefully acknowledge the financial support received from Fermanagh District Council, Ballinaglera/Boho Tourism Partnership, and the Heritage Lottery Fund towards all the above projects" concluded Edel.
