Traditional weekend for Enniskillen


Next weekend sees a host of traditional music and dance events scheduled to coincide with St Patrick's Day.

Fermanagh District Council's Art of Regeneration Programme runs from the 14th – 16th March 2008 at the Clinton Centre in Enniskillen for people of all ages.

On Friday 14th March from 9pm to late Fermanagh's Emerald Ceili Band will play and dances will be called by Sheila Gormley £3 at the door.

On Saturday 15th March from 10am – 4pm; and Sunday 16th March 1 –5pm there will be a series of free Workshops. Booking forms are available from the Town Hall Arts Office or you can book yourself a place by calling 66325050 or email diane.henshaw@fermanagh.gov.uk with your full contact details.

Please note participants should bring their own instruments, and these workshops are open to all ages.

On Saturday 15 March, from 10-12 and 2-4pm, the following workshops will run: flute with Cyril Maguire; fiddle with John McManus; guitar with Fintan McManus; traditional singing with Gabriel McArdle; accordion with Jim McGrath; Sean Nós step-dancing,(Maggie Pickens) with Margaret Wray

On Sunday 16 March from 1-5pm the following workshops will run: traditional singing with Rosie Stewart; fiddle with Big John McManus; flute with Cyril Maguire; concertina with Gabriel McArdle

Also on Saturday 15th March from 9pm to late The Arts Office will host a night filled with music played and performed by seven artists from the Fermanagh Traditional Music Society including Jim McGrath, accordion; Cyril Maguire, flute; Fintan McManus, Bouzouki; Gabriel McArdle, concertina and song; Francie Rasdale, whistle; Brenda McCann and John McManus, fiddle. Tickets £5 at door.

Deadline for booking for workshops: Thursday 13th March 2008 at 3pm. Limited places, early booking advisable.
