Gerry McCann traditional music weekend



A tribute concert to the late Sean Nugent, All Ireland Champion Fiddle Player, Teacher, Composer and Leader of the Pride of Erin Band. Sean who lived in Lack, not only kept the Irish music tradition alive in the area from the 1950s until his death in 1966, he also passed on the art of playing Irish traditional music to many young musicians who are still playing today.

The concert will feature performances from many of his past pupils and includes a launch of a new CD and Book of his compositions entitled "The Hills of Largy".

The compositions are named after local musicians and places in Fermanagh. Books and CDs will be on sale. Admission free.

Saturday, 8th March, 10.00 am - 4.00 pm. Workshops

Tutors: Fiddle - Brenda McCann; Fiddle - Denise Wilkinson; Whistle & Flute - Cyril Maguire; Button Accordion - Edel Quinn; Singing - Catherine McLaughlin. Fee £5 per person.

Timetable: 9.30 - 10.00 am. Registration; 10.00 am - 12.30 pm. Classes; 12.30 - 2.00 pm. Lunch; 2.00 - 4.00 pm. Classes.
