Copper cabling stolen at Derrylin windfarm

The Police have advised scrap dealers on both sides of the border to be wary if offered a chance to buy copper cabling.

The PSNI warning comes after around 70 metres of core cable, weighing over a tonne, was stolen from a windfarm at Gortmullan, Derrylin over the weekend of 20th/21st October.

The cabling, which is valued at £10,000, has no practical use other than at windfarms.

Access to the site was via the southern side of the border. The stolen cable weighs in excess of 10,000kg.

Police at Enniskillen are appealing for information and are advising scrap dealers and recyclers to be alert.

The number to call with any information is 0845 600 8000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
