BROOKEBORO ............................................ 1-9
ST PATRICK'S ........................................... 1-15
St Patrick's returned to the Brookeboro ground for the second time in the space of five days and once more it was a happy hunting ground for the Donagh side. They secured a six point league success and again they were to shoot a more than respectable score tally.
But they didn't have matters all their own way by any manner of means and for threequarters of the contest this was a tight affair.
Home side Brookeboro were in fact holding a narrow lead as the final quarter beckoned but the game was to swing away from them when St Patrick's pounced for a goal and that score galvanised the visitors to mount a strong finale which eventually hauled them well clear.
Plenty of scores popped up in the opening half with St Patrick's notching a tally of nine points, Eamon Maguire, Kevin Maguire and Pat Cadden all on the mark for them.
Brookeboro however were by no means out of touch and with Thomas McElroy producing a particularly strong effort they were hot on the heels of the opposition.
Key score for Brookeboro was to be their goal, this coming on fifteen minutes and once again it was the ever reliable Niall Rooney who collected it.
Rooney did well to win possession close in on goal and despite being closely policed he still managed to rifle in his score, a score which pushed the team in front.
The interval lead however was to be held by St Patrick's Eamon Maguire popping over the half's final score two minutes from the break.
On the resumption, it was a committed Brookeboro who made the early pressure and they had successes from Kieran Donnelly and Chris McGeehan they were beginning to entertain hopes of chalking up a much needed league success.
But it was all to go awry for them when St Patrick's struck for a decisive goal. Substitute Eamon McDermott with his first touch of the ball paved the way for an opportunity for the supporting Shane McDermott and the latter crashed home a spectacular strike.
The score injected a late surge of belief into St Patrick's and they rounded off the hour with further scores from Gary Maguire and Jason Cadden to be surprisingly comfortable at the end.
For Brookeboro, Barry Wray was an effective corner back and Michael Rice did well in the half back line while for St Patrick's, Eamon Maguire had an influential game with Benny Reilly at corner back and substitute Eamon McDermott also much to the fore.
