The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment Maria Eagle has expressed her concern that Moy Park are failing to fully engage with unions and with the workforce over the proposed closure of the Lisnaskea factory
The Minister expressed these concerns when she met with local representatives, unions and members of the workforce of the under threat factory.
Tommy Gallagher, SDLP MLA said he, along with UUP's Tom Elliott, the TGWU's Regional Organiser, Jim Quinn and members of the Lisnaskea workforce had an hour long meeting last week with the Minister at her office in Castle Buildings.
"During an hour long meeting with the Minister, we explained the problems the workforce has in getting information from Moy Park about what will happen at the end of the 90 day notice" explained Mr Gallagher.
"She expressed her concern, and said she will urge Moy Park to engage seriously with the unions and with Invest Northern Ireland".
Mr Gallagher aid he felt the meeting was 'positive'.
The delegation who met with the Minister also urged her to ask Invest NI to explore all possible avenues to replacing the jobs at Ferne Foods, if the plant were to close.
