The first of this years safety awareness days was held last month at the Clarke Group headquarters in Lisnaskea.
The event was organised in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) and was designed to address the main risk areas within sites, improve safety awareness and promote best practice.
The event was attended by 35 people from the industry who heard presentations on, Leadership in Safety, Machinery Guarding, Transport Safety, Working at heights, Block making safety procedures and Occupational Health.
The feedback from those attending was excellent, and each company was asked to take away three issues that they could implement in their own operations.
To register their improvement plan, they were asked to fax back their form to QPANI (Quarry Products Association Northern Ireland) and a follow up will be made in 6 months to get an update on progress. Companies will then be encouraged to enter their initiative in next years safety awards.
