A 39-year-old Belnaleck man faces a £150 fine and has been disqualified until tested after he was detected drink driving.
Fermanagh Magistrate's Court heard how at approximately 1.30am on 14th April, the defendant, Raymond Corrigan from Tully House, Tully Road, was driving on the Station Road, Letterbreen, prior to being detected for driving with excess alcohol.
When stopped and approached by police, Corrigan was found to have a strong smell of intoxicating liquor off his breath and his eyes were glazed. He was arrested for driving while unfit. A breath sample showed 84 micrograms of alcohol in 100 micrograms of breath.
Defending, Vincent Maguire told the court that the incident had taken place in the early hours of a Saturday morning. His client has decided to travel the short distance to his home when he was detected. He said that Corrigan was a 39-year-old single man who was a self-employed builder. He had been driving for 22 years and had a clean record.
He urged the RM to consider his early plea.
Ms Kelly imposed a £150 fine and a 12 month driving ban and stipulated that Corrigan could not drive again until tested.
