The new season of activities at Enniskillen Photographic Society commence tomorrow (Thursday) night when the Club officially marks the beginning of the its 25th anniversary year.
This is the ideal night for anyone wishing to pursue their interest in photography to come along and discover what happens during the Society's fortnightly meetings.
Basic camera controls, photo manipulation and composing a picture will be given short introductions by more experienced members. Whether you have a disposable, point and shoot or digital SLR, there should be something to interest all.
As one of the leading clubs in the North West of Ireland, EPS continues to provide a mixed programme of club and inter-club competitions, lectures, workshops and, this year not one but two public exhibitions. The exhibitions and programme of events attract prominent judges, lecturers and fellow photographers with a breadth of knowledge and experience from which all members can benefit.
A new development for 2008 sees the Society joining forces with the Enniskillen Arts Festival providing an exhibition of prints depicting the Fermanagh Lakelands. These will be displayed in the new Waterways Ireland building.
As an amateur club, EPS has something to offer everyone regardless of experience, age or photographic ability. It offers a very wide-ranging approach to photographic styles and techniques, and crucially, aims to stimulate and encourage members of all abilities to fulfil their photographic potential, meet other photographers and, of course have fun.
There is a strong bias towards giving all members an opportunity to acquire studio skills with a training session on how to set up lights, work with models and, ultimately take perfect studio photographs.
The Society has a fully equipped studio for registered members to use on a monthly basis. Other training sessions include camera skills and techniques, preparing your prints, PhotoShop skills, and interclub nights.
EPS hold monthly Print and Slide competitions for club members, with both Novice and Advanced sections in each round. Topics this year include Water, Street Life, Autumn and more.
