Police need the help of young disco dancers

Disco fans who travelled to Cookstown last Saturday may be able to help Police who are appealing for information about a serious sexual assault on a young woman in the town that day.

A PSNI spokesman said Police believe that many people travelled by bus from Fermanagh as well as from the Craigavon, Armagh and Omagh areas that evening.

"Detectives are trying to establish the movements of the injured teenager during a three-hour period between 8.30pm and 11.30pm that night when she was found by a member of the public at Molesworth Street."

the Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Lee McNevison made a specific appeal: "There are a number of people we would like to speak to', he said, " who may have vital information about what happened that night. They could help with our enquiries.

Firstly, we would like to speak to a female with long dark brown hair wearing a white skirt and green top with light coloured sunglasses on her head.

"Also, a male wearing jeans and a dark coloured short sleeved top who was also wearing sunglasses on his head," said the detective.

"We are also very keen to speak to anyone who was in the Molesworth Street/James Street area on Saturday September 20."

Anyone with information can call police on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
