A lapse in her car insurance during the time that it took the insurance company to cash her banker's draft, left a motorist, Lorna Valerie Noelle Wylie, from Woodview, Enniskillen, facing a £400 fine and eight penalty points on her licence.
Fermanagh Magistrates Court heard that the 24-year-old came to police attention when she was stopped at a police checkpoint on the Main Street, Belnaleck.
She was asked to produce her driving documents, but did not have an insurance certificate with her.
However, a few days later, she came to the police station in Enniskillen to explain why she did not have a valid insurance certificate.
She explained that she had a new policy with the insurance company that she had been with for the last five years, but that it only became valid when her cheque arrived at the broker's and, therefore, there had been a period of time when she was uninsured.
Defence solicitor, Garry Smyth handed in evidence of Wylie's previous insurance policy, and of the banker's draft that she had purchased prior to her detection by police.
Mr Smyth explained that his client's application was being processed but he accepted she did not have cover on the night she was stopped.
