Chef Patrina has it 'on a plate'


A chef from the Erne Restaurant at Fermanagh College has walked away with this year's Rotary Chef of the Year title.

The Rotary Chef 2007 competition, in association with Tenderlean Meats and Fermanagh College, was held at Fermanagh College recently and was won by Patrina McBrien who proved to the judges she had something 'special'.

This competition was designed to recognise the wealth of talent among local chefs and provided an opportunity to showcase the skills, flair and creativity of chefs by creating an innovative two course meal.

The competition was open to any chef male or female over 18 years of age employed in the Hospitality and Catering Industry in the Fermanagh area and its Bordering Counties.

Competitors were required to prepare, cook and present a two-course meal for two people consisting of a main course and a starter.

Judges took into consideration; skill factor, professional work method, safety and hygiene, taste, colour, balance and presentation of the final product.

The winner was Patrina McBrien from the Erne Restaurant Fermanagh College.

Other competitors included Martin McAdam Scoffs & Café Uno, Grahame Balfour Kennys, Flo Gstrein Café Merlot & Restaurant No 6,William Nixon Cassie Quinns, Robert Wilson MacNean Bistro.
