Enniskillen teenager, Finbarr Maguire, is one of 95 young musicians across Northern Ireland who will be taking part in the Ulster Youth Orchestra's Annual Summer School which runs from the 8th to 16th of August 2007.
The nine-day residential course of workshops and rehearsals will be held at Greenmount Agricultural College in Antrim and ends with two public performances at the Guildhall, Derry on Thursday 16th of August and Clonard Monastery, Belfast on Friday 17th August.
Finbarr is a student at St Michael's College in Enniskillen and plays bass trombone.
Looking ahead to the Summer School, he said: "I'm really pleased to be taking part in the Ulster Youth Orchestra's Summer School this year and, particularly, to our two public performances in Derry and Belfast.
Going on a residential course like this offers young musicians like myself the chance to work with and learn from some of the UK's best tutors and professional musicians, which will help us to develop and improve our own musical skill and knowledge in the longer term."
The Ulster Youth Orchestra's guest conductor for the concerts is Berlin-born, Andre de Ridder, who will be conducting an ambitious and exciting repertoire comprising 'Concerto for Orchestra' by 20th century Polish composer, Witold Lutoslawski and 'Symphonie Fantastique' by the 19th century composer, Hector Berlioz .
Tickets for the Guildhall concert are available from the Millennium Forum Box Office, Derry while tickets for the concert at Clonard Monastery in Belfast are available from the Grand Opera House Box Office.
