On Saturday, the funeral liturgy for eight-month old Chelsea Agnew, who perished in a fire in the family home at Drumbeg, Enniskillen the previous week-end, took place in the Convent Chapel, Enniskillen.
The liturgy was conducted by Fr Owen Gorman, CC, Enniskillen. He told mourners that the tragic circumstances of her death had united her family and the whole community.
"It is hard to think of a worse pain to bear than the loss of a child. This is a time when words fail, and we have come to that time. But, God is with those who are challenged by questions of why this has happened. He is with us now when we struggle to understand". Chelsea's mother, Charmaine Agnew, her partner, Willie McLoughlin and Chelsea's two-year old brother, Corey escaped the fire which neighbours had tried frantically to battle in order to get to the baby. She died in a front, upstairs bedroom. Her burial took place in Breandrum Cemetery.
