Excellent weather brought out the crowds to last week's annual Fermanagh County Show. The Show secretary, Heather Crawford reported that livestock numbers were up on last year which, in itself, boosted the interest in what is the only 'county' show in Northern Ireland.
"We are very glad", she said, "that the Show did not fall victim to the recent Foot and Mouth outbreaks in England. We took all the bio-security measures we could and we adhered to the advice offered by DARD".
The weather remained dry for the entire Show and, as always, there was mounting interest as decision time neared for this year's All-Ireland Dairy Cow champion. The winning animal was owned by William Crawford and his son, James from Ardmore, Brookeborough.
For the first time, the Montbeliarde breed made its appearance at the Show, and the category was won by an animal belonging to Dale Byers from Ballinamallard.
