Fun filled evening promised at Ardhowen

This weekend it's comedy and the blues at Ardhowen, as William Caulfield's comedy show 'More Our Jimmy' takes to the main stage on Friday 17th August at 8.00pm, while on Saturday 18th at 9.00pm, the focus moves to the Gallery Bar for a great evening of blues from the talented local outfit 'Crossfire'.

Fun Filled Evening

William Caulfield is now one of the busiest and most hard working comedians in Ireland today, with performances in all of Northern Ireland's theatres as well as corporate appearances ensuring he has a full diary.

Add to that his topping the bill in this year's pantomime 'Jack and the Beanstalk' in Derry's Millennium Forum and you can see he is a very busy entertainer indeed.

His performance this Friday 17th August is entitled 'More Our Jimmy', a hugely entertaining and extremely funny follow up to his 'Our Jimmy' show, which has packed theatres everywhere it has played. The show is of course a tribute to the life and work of that great Northern Ireland funnyman, the late lamented James Young.

This side splitting comedy show features sketches made famous by James Young from his very extensive archive.

The show has some new pieces, but all the old favourite characters are there, including the ever drunk Willie Simpson, Wee Sammy, the schoolboy and the infamous always complaining Lily O'Condriac.

Outrageous hilarity and madcap humour are the order of the day in a show that guarantees laughs from start to finish. It starts at 8.00pm.

Classic Blues Rock

Fermanagh's own blues specialists 'Crossfire' return by special request to the Ardhowen Theatre Gallery Bar this Saturday 18th August 9.00pm after the success of their first gig there earlier this year. Formed in 1985, Crossfire are a classic blues/rock trio based in Fermanagh.

Gary Fleming on bass and vocals and Des Campbell on drums have over the years performed at the Monaghan Blues Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, Templebar and Castlebar Music Festivals and the International Rory Gallagher Festival. Guitarist Crispin Gill has toured extensively for over twenty years performing with blues, ska and reggae artists such as Rico Rodriguez (trombone legend now featured with the Jools Holland band), Joe Louis, The Trojans, The Skatelites, Little George Suref, Phil Guy (Buddy's brother) and the legendary John Mayall.

Crossfire's collective energy and passion for the music creates an inspiring performance of original material as well as work by artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Buddy Guy, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters and ZZ Top to name but a few.

It should be a great musical evening for blues enthusiasts and just the tonic to cheer us all up from the depressing summer weather.

Anniversary Concert

You will probably be very aware from the great television and radio profile at the moment that legend of rock, Elvis Presley, died thirty years ago this week and to mark that occasion, Ardhowen Theatre is pleased to be able to stage a concert of all the 'King's' many many hit songs on Friday 31st August at 8.00pm. T.C.B. promotions in association with Ardhowen Theatre, present 'The Elvis Spectacular Show', a concert that plays all the hits from all stages of Elvis' career from the 1950's to the Las Vegas years.

Featuring a talented band of musicians and the backing vocal talents of the beautiful 'Sweet Sensations' fronted by an uncanny portrayal of the King of \Rock 'n' Roll by Jim Brown, it's an evening to savour.

This is the closest thing you will get to an actual Elvis concert and the excellent Jim Brown is a recording star in his own right, with his 'Gravelands' album selling over a quarter of a million copies.

It should be a great musical evening albeit tinged with a little sadness, but it's really a celebration of his music and all that he stood for in popular music – so why not come along and join in the celebration.
