STRABANE 2ND XV .................................... 0
ENNISKILLEN 4TH XV ............................... 19
The very heavy pitch at Strabane was not going to be conducive to flowing rugby, and the forward battle was going to be pivotal to victory in this contest, and so it proved, with Enniskillen dominating their hosts in all areas bar the line-out, which proved a lottery for both sides in the difficult conditions.
Enniskillen scored two tries in the first half. Stuart Brady got the first, going over in the corner after the ball had gone through a number of phases with some excellent re-cycling. Martin Hinchcliffe added the second in the opposite corner after a fine break by the backs. Only one conversion was made, leaving the half-time score 120 to 'Skins.
In the second half, Hinchcliffe added his second try to cap off an excellent all-round performance. This converted try was the only reward for a fine display of ball retention in the second half, and 'Skins were very unlucky that they didn't manage to add further scores. Leroy Lindsay did come close, but a suspiciously high tackle went unpunished.
Questions were being asked whether the team should be playing away from home last weekend following Strabane's failure to travel to Enniskillen twice earlier this season for the 'return' fixture. In any case, this made victory all the sweeter.
The Fourths find themselves at the right end of the table, with only one setback to date and now have a well deserved week off before returning to cup action in December.
