On Thursday night last, the first round of the Knockout Cup took place. Cup holders, the Roadhouse who have won the competition for the last five years, eased into the quarter-finals when their opponents, the Porter House, were unable to field a team. Last year's beaten finalists, the Necarne Arms, Irvinestown, had a home game against the Clubhouse, Kesh. The Necarne Arms ran out easy winners by seven games to two.

The Poachers Inn, Ballinamallard, had both their teams drawn against each other and on form their B team were fancied to win easily but on the night it was the A team who began the better and after six single games the a team led by four games to two.

In the Doubles, it was the B team pairing of April Rooney and John Beatty who defeated Keith Graham and Tony Glenn to put the Poachers B into the quarter-finals.
