A young driver who didn't realise there was still alcohol in his system the morning after being out drinking has come before Fermanagh Magistrates Court charged with driving with excess alcohol.
Before the court was Aaron Thomas Fee (19) from Doonara Doon, Tempo who was fined £350 and was disqualified from driving for 12 months by Resident Magistrate Austin Kennedy.
The court heard that on 7th February this year police saw the defendant driving a Peugeot 305 car in an erratic manner at Quay Lane in Enniskillen.
SUSPICION
When police subsequently saw the defendant at Belmore Street he was stopped and spoken to by officers about the manner of his driving.
It was while speaking to him police noticed the smell of intoxicating liquor and he failed a preliminary breath test before being arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
Defending, Nessa Murnaghan said this was quite a serious case and explained the defendant had been drinking the night before and had nothing to eat on the morning he was stopped.
Ms Murnaghan said her client didn't realise that he would still be over the legal alcohol drink-drive limit the following morning.
