Dancers struttin' their stuff

The Struttin' Stars Line Dancing Club, which is based in Coonian, was well represented at the recent national finals in the Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny, four of the 27-strong party returning as All Ireland champions.

The winners were - Marie Wray, who retained her title in the 16-24 Advanced Section; Aoife Moane in the 13-15 Newcomer Section; Aisling Reilly in the 16-24 Novice Section, and her sister, Sabrina in the 25-35 Newcomer Section.

And, for their very proud instructor, Mary Wray there was a wealth of runners-up placings, among them the group of 18 dancers in the Children's Club Section, all under 17 years of age, who performed a dance routing to a Travis Tritt track.

"They were a bundle of nerves," Mary said, "but they were well and truly pleased with their third place."

Indeed, Mary expressed her overall appreciation of the hard work that all of the dancers had put in in the weeks leading up to the All-Ireland finals.

In the second placed list were - Louise Foy (under 8 Novice), Samantha Gallagher (9-12 Advanced), Jackie Gallagher, in the Adult Charity Challenge and, finally, the Adult Team of Four who competed as, 'Rising Stars'.

There were third-placed finishers too, among them the 'Sparkling Stars' team of four together with Patricia Haren in the 16-24 Novice, and Marie Wray in the Adult Charity Challenge.

There were placings secured at 4th, 5th and 6th levels right up to 9th ad 10th spots, where, in the 9-12 Beginners Section, Natasha Callow came 9th and Rionnagh Durnien 10th.

Mary Wray will shortly be organising a celebration night and, through the 'Herald', she thanked all supporters and sponsors and, also, Brookeboro GFC for the use of the hall for practices.
