Pull on your PJ's and help children with cancer

Leading cancer charity CLIC Sargent, the children's charity that supports children and young people diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia, is calling on the people of Fermanagh to come out and support their latest fund-raising event, an event with a difference.

Castle Archdale is the venue on Saturday, 22nd September for a PJ5K, a sponsored walk in which participants are asked to walk, toddle, or jog the five kilometre distance in their pyjamas.

The local charity are calling on mums and dads, granddads and grandmas and children to take part in the event to raise money for CLIC Sargent Northern Ireland where, it is estimated, two children / young people are diagnosed with either cancer or leukaemia every week.

Local company, 'Hug the Bundle, an environmental web-based company for mothers and babies, is supporting this unusual event, which is sure to be great fun for all who take part. Families throughout the region are being encouraged to register for the event which is expected to attract more than 600 people.

Claire McAuley, Event Fund-raising Manager, CLIC Sargent reported there were 12 PJ5K's taking place throughout the UK during National Yummy Mummy Week (15 - 23 September) and each event hoped to raise money for children and young people with cancer.

"The Fermanagh event, which will kick off at 1.00pm on Saturday 22nd September, will give people a chance to explore the grounds of the fabulous Castle Archdale. It is sure to be a great day out."

The Fermanagh PJ5K is being held as part of National Yummy Mummy Week, an annual, nation-wide event that sees mums having fun with their friends and family whilst raising money for children and young people with cancer.

Marian Gilmartin, the owner of Hug the Bundle adds, "CLIC Sargent Northern Ireland provides vital services for children with cancer and their families. I am very privileged to be involved with the charity and this wonderful event.

"We will be helping CLIC Sargent promote the event regionally, and encouraging those people that use our services to attend the PJ5K even on the day."
