Some 20 new jobs are in the pipe-line for Lisnaskea with the announcement that seven units dedicated to the start up and growth of creative businesses have been completed at Manderwood Park.
The SOURCE, a developing rural creativity programme, is a cross border project to grow the creative industries sector. It will see over 20 new jobs created in Lisnaskea over the next few months with an investment of over £200,000 in this new enterprise facility.
Announcing the new development Gerard O'Neill, DARD explained: "Creative industries is a diverse and exciting sector including those involved in craft, design, fashion, software and computer services, architecture, the performing arts, advertising and P.R., publishing and the media. "According to our research, it also has the potential to have close economic relationships with other sectors, such as tourism, hospitality, museums and galleries, heritage and sport, all of which will be vitally important in our regional perspective."
Such is the need for workspace units for the Creative Industries sector in the Fermanagh area, that four of the units are already occupied and there is a lot of interest in the other units.
Catherine Ryan, from the Fermanagh Local Action group (FLAG), a partner in the cross border partnership of LEADER companies that instigated the Source, commended those involved.
"Focusing on the potential of the creative industries sector, the Source project is a major stimulus initiative aimed at developing the potential of the creative industries sector in counties Fermanagh, Sligo and Leitrim.
"FLAG are delighted to be involved in the creation of 20 new jobs in Lisnaskea, and we have already seen six jobs based at the creative hub, a really impressive start. Creative and craft activities can make a huge contribution to the economy of our disadvantaged rural areas and businesses."
