A National Scheme Committee (NSC) will be the vehicle to administer part of the expenses programme for inter county players. This committee will be comprised of three representatives from Ard Comhairle and two GPA representatives One of the Ard Comhairle representatives will chair the committee and all re imbursements will be made by the NSC. The total current available fund is 3.5 million Euro.
The NSC will pay mileage expenses along with other eligible expenses that are incurred during the championship season which is deemed to start on May 1st. Players will continue to file all their mileage expenses to county boards who will reimburse at the standard rate of 35 pence per mile. Players can then submit another claim to the NSC who will make their payment base on Irish Civil Service rates. Players will be awarded the balance between the GAA's rate and the Civil Service rate. It is believed however that other expenses can be claimed for but it is not yet clear what these expenses are.
Should a player submit a claim which is less than the maximum amount allowed the unclaimed expenses will be paid into a team development fund. The scheme applies solely to senior intercounty teams only and team eligibility is based on the panel being committed to a development plan.
