Defective brake light
When police stopped a motorist for having a defective brake light on Main Street, Derrylin on 4th March they discovered the driver hadn't valid insurance cover to drive the vehicle.
Sebastian Kickcicki, (25) with an address at Silverstream in Derrylin pleaded guilty through an interpreter to the charges he faced when he appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court.
The court heard when the defendant was stopped for the defective light he was unable to produce his driving documents and was arrested.
However, when no interpreter could be located he was released on bail.
When asked by Resident Magistrate Liam McNally if the defendant had anything to say he replied 'I am very sorry this happened. It won't happen again."
Sentencing, Mr McNally said it was a serious charge to drive a vehicle on the road without insurance.
For driving an Opel Vectra without insurance the defendant was fined £200 and disqualified from driving for six months while for driving without a licence, without wearing a seat belt, driving an Opel Vectra without a vehicle licence certificate and for the defective brake light fines of £50 were imposed for each offence.
Cannabis found
An Enniskillen man who was found to be in possession of a small quantity of cannabis resin has been fined £200 for the offence at Fermanagh Magistrates Court.
Twenty-one year old Kevin Maguire from Drumbeg in Enniskillen pleaded guilty to possession of the class 'C' drug, which was detected on 20th October last year.
The court heard that on the date in question police were speaking to the driver of a car in Quay Lane car park when the defendant, who was a front seat passenger in the vehicle, was observed dropping something to his feet.
A subsequent police search of the car uncovered two small pieces of cannabis resin and when questioned about the drugs the defendant said, "Sorry - it's for my own personal use'.
