By the time you are reading this the race may be all but over. One of the most electrifying election campaigns in US history drew to a close on Monday as Americans took to the polls yesterday to elect either Barack Obama or John McCain as their next President.
By the time you are reading this the race for the White House could be all but decided.
Polls indicate that Obama is going to win and win comfortably but at the time of going to press Democrat's in America were still jittery.
They worry that people may say they are going to vote for Obama but put the X by McCain in the privacy of the voting booth.
But others argue that America has moved on and, to borrow a line from Obama's speech book, 'ready to embrace change.'
Indeed if the polls are completely accurate it will be Obama by a landslide by dawn this morning.
There may be 52 States in America but in truth only ten States really matter. Theses are known as swing States and are the states
Interestingly five of the swing States will be among the first to declare their winner.
Three of these, Indiana, Virginia and Ohio, happen to be States that for generations have been typically Republican strongholds but were major battlegrounds in the 08 Election with Obama ahead in two of these three States.
If Obama wins all three or even two of these then it is all but over for McCain. If McCain managed to hang on to two he is still a long shot.
If the 72 year old Senator has won all three then all the polls were wrong.
Is America ready for a black President? You should know by now what the answer to that particular million dollar question is.
