Kieran Leonard rcently won two gold medals at the Ulster Fleadh Ceoil held in Coalisland, Co. Tyrone during the weekend of the 29th/30th July. He won his first gold medal in the tin whistle, 12-15 years section and immediately gave credit to his tutor, Aisling McPhillips.
Kieran went on to win the solo ceili band drumming, 12-15 years section which was a step-up from last year when he was runner-up in the same competition. He also paid tribute to his accompanist on the button accordian, Christopher Maguire who went on to win the gold medal in the 15-18 years button accordian competition.
Kieran had previously won four gold medals at ths year's Fermanagh Fleadh Ceoil in Lisnaskea, including the Sands Memorial Cup for the tin whistle in the process.
He now progresses to the drumming and tin whistle, 12-15 years competition in the All-Ireland Fleadh Ceoil to be held in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, on the bank holiday weekend of August, 26th-28th.
