The annual primary schools' netball competition took place on Friday last, with 13 schools participating.
After some exciting qualifiers, the following four schools reached the semi-finals: Maguiresbridge (Controlled Primary School) CPS, St Mary's, Maguiresbridge, St Patrick's, Derrygonnelly, and Ballinamallard CPS.
It would be hard to better the record of St Mary's, who have won this event numerous times. They practise regularly and are well coached by the school Principal, Brendan McCusker, and are very difficult to score against.
Once again, they were the winners, but their opponents in the final, St Patrick's, Derrygonnelly, did well to get there.
On the individual awards, the judging panel decided that Sarah Moorehead, who was in goal attack for Maguiresbridge CPS was the Player of the Tournament, and Jessica Young, at wing attack, the Most Promising. She is from the Enniskillen Integrated PS.
Finally, it must be a long time since sponsorship of the generous type shown by Peter Stuart was provided. His support was appreciated greatly, and it helped to make this a most enjoyable event, which was organised ably by Linda Morrison and Rodney Howe.
