Improved seconds take a point

ENNISKILLEN 2XI............................................... 0

BALLYCLARE 3XI ............................................... 0

Enniskillen Ladies 2XI travelled to Ballyclare this week for a tough match against a good and very rough team, but thanks to recent good form from the young team, Skins held Ballyclare to a nil all draw, which was well deserved as last time the two teams met, Ballyclare were in an 'unforgiving mood' and blasted many balls past the young team.

Ballyclare dominated for the first ten minutes, putting plenty of pressure on the defensive line of Andrea Kerr, Gemma McCutcheon, Rachel Managh and Laura Kettyle, but thanks to many good clearances, Ballyclare were prevented from entering the circle.

Ballyclare continued to upset the defence with many strong shots on goal, but thanks to brilliant clearances from keeper Jennie Allen, Ballyclare were again denied their goal.

Enniskillen soon settled down and showed the home team just how good they were. Excellent passing between the midfield of Naomi Cathcart, Danni Morton and Cathy Graham pushed the game up to the other end of the field, and many dangerous balls were allowed to enter the circle, but unfortunately, the final touch could not be found.

The second half began with the young Enniskillen team beginning to really enjoy the teamwork and let their ball skills lift them above the opposition.

The combination of the forward players – Alana Cross, Louise Noble, Louise McFrederick and Flick Long, along with the midfield players helped to rattle the Ballyclare defence and really put them under pressure, but disappointingly a goal could not be found after many close calls.

The last ten minutes of the game saw Ballyclare again pressurise the Skins defence and using their strength and strong shots, the home side where awarded many short corners, but this did not phase the Enniskillen side, who remained level-headed and cleared any dangerous balls with the aid of keeper Jennie.

The game finished 0-0, which was a good result for Enniskillen, who hope to continue their excellent form in the quarter-final of the Intermediate Plate this Saturday at the Bawnacre. Thanks to Micky for umpiring the match and providing much needed transport.
