St Joseph's wins health award

St Joseph's College Enniskillen were the recipients of a silver health promoting schools award in the past week at the WELB prize giving ceremony in the Mellon Country Inn Omagh. The award, which was open to all schools in the Western Health and Social Services Board, is given to schools that show they are dedicated to promoting health in all aspects of the school curriculum.

The scheme challenges schools to develop their full potential as health promoting settings, in which staff and pupils are encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle.

The school was visited by an assessment team in March who looked at all the relevant policies and also checked the catering facilities, toilets and indeed the whole school environment to see if it radiated a health promoting ethos.

The staff and students were delighted to receive the award and determined to continue to drive the school forward as a place which is dedicated to promote healthy living.
