Andy launches 'The Y'

A Kinawley singer and songwriter is hoping for success with the release of his first CD.

Twenty six-year-old Andy Maguire has just launched 'The Y' an EP compiled of four original tracks.

Andy explains: "I first came into contact with music by drumming with the St Naile's Marching Band, Kinawley. We played all over Ireland.

"When in college, I continued music through playing the Guitar. After playing for a year or two, I began writing my own material. I find writing is a great way of releasing strong feelings.

"My writing is heavily influenced by REM and Oasis. I also enjoy performing REM and Oasis numbers as the tone suits my voice.

"In Manchester I recorded 14 of my own tracks for the craic. This was over two days so it was pretty much one take per song. Once I moved home, I felt like doing something more professional, so I picked four songs to record. The result is 'The Y'. Oh it is called 'The Y' because I came to a junction in my life with two options - not a cross roads," he adds.

'The Y' is currently available in shops around the County now.
