MS Society nominated charity for 10k

The MS Society (Fermanagh Branch) is the nominated charity for this year's Enniskillen Rotary Club 10k race on 9th June.

Being the nominated charity means that every competitor in the race will be given an opportunity to raise funds for this organisation. A sponsor card will be given to the competitor as soon as they submit an entry form to the race. Although raising funds will not be compulsory to participate in the race, the organisers are strongly recommending that you do, as it is a very worthwhile cause.

Local joint secretary, Maureen Welsh has outlined how money raised for this charity is spent. "We have 30–40 people suffering from MS, who are members of the Fermanagh Branch of the MS Society. We spend the money on patient comforts such as wheelchairs and special beds. We also organise outings to pleasant venues with disabled access. These outings provide an opportunity for patients to discuss issues of concern, as well as enjoying a day out. We also provide funding for an MS Nurse for the Western Area and to optimise resources we sometimes link with MS charities across the border."
