A 29-year-old man faces a combined £1,075 fine and has been banned from driving for a number of motoring offences following a recent sitting of Fermanagh Magistrates Court.
Resident Magistrate Liam McNally heard how on the 20th June this year, Normunds Avontis with an address at Mill Street, Enniskillen was driving a Mazda 323 when he was detected driving without insurance, no vehicle test certificate, and two defective tyres.
He told PSNI officers that he had been in Northern Ireland for a year and a half. When cautioned he replied: 'I have no money'. He said he was a 29-year-old factory worker.
The Court then heard that on the 28th February this year, police observed the same Mazda 323 and stopped the defendant who was unsteady on his feet and there was a strong smell of intoxicating liquor of his breath.
He was conveyed to Enniskillen Police Station where a lower reading showed 134 micrograms of alcohol in 100 micrograms of breath, that being 99 in excess.
He was requested to produce his driving documents . He admitted to driving without insurance.
DRIVING BAN
For matters arising out of the 20th June, Mr McNally imposed a £300 fine and a 12 month driving ban for no insurance, a £75 fine for no vehicle test certificate and a £50 fine for each of the defective tyres.
For matters on the 28th February, Mr McNally imposed a £250 fine and a 12 month driving ban for driving with excess alcohol.
For driving without insurance, he imposed a £200.
For driving without 'L' plates, without a vehicle test certificate and without supervision, he was fined £50 each.
