An Enniskillen police officer was in the running for the title of Community Police Officer of the Year.
Constable Gavin Huey was one of 27 nominees from across Northern Ireland for the category in this year's Policing With The Community Awards.
The event was organised by the Police Service in partnership with the Northern Ireland Policing Board, and this was the award scheme's fourth year. The winners were announced at a gala event recently.
There were seven categories, including the Lifetime Achievement, Partnership and Diversity Awards along with Probationer and Staff Member of the year.
Constable Huey has been attached to the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Enniskillen for the past five years. Recently, he has been involved in three local problem-solving initiatives, and he was instrumental in accessing financial support through the Policing with the Community Fund for a socially deprived housing estate to incorporate crime prevention tactics.
Constable Huey facilitates the Enniskillen Community Forum, where his role involves liaising with cross community groups within the major housing estates within the town.
He has received many letters of appreciation from schools, community groups, footballs clubs and one from Lord Rooker, the former Minister for Agriculture highlighting the work he has been involved in.
The Deputy Chief Constable Paul Leighton said: "Policing with the community sits at the very heart of what we do. We are committed to it. We do it every day. And we are good at it.
"The Policing With The Community Awards allow us to publicly recognise and reward outstanding examples of local police officers and police staff engaging in partnership with local people to find local solutions to local problems.
