The Board of Governors at the South West College in Enniskillen have agreed to appoint an external agency to try and identify the origins of a recent anonymous letter which they believe has made 'malicious' accusations against members of staff at the College.
The move comes following a recent 'whistle-blowing' letter which was written to the Department of Education.
In the anonymous letter, which is purported to come from members of staff at the College, the writers allege some staff the South West College in Enniskillen are engaged in unprofessional conduct, sectarianism, and favouritism.
As a result, the Governing Body of the South West College, held a meeting at which they agreed a policy in relation to ongoing anonymous letters purporting to emanate from staff.
A spokesperson for the College explained: "The governors noted considerable funding and resources had, in the past, been invested in investigating the contents of anonymous letters purporting to be from staff in the Enniskillen Campus.
MALICIOUS
The contents of these, which were perceived to be malicious in intent, were not upheld.
"The Governing Body is charged with responsibility for the proper use of public funds in relation to the South West College. In view of this responsibility, the Governing Body unanimously decided to ignore all further anonymous correspondence purporting to represent staff."
The spokesperson said the Board of Governors were satisfied with the existing 'Whistle-blowing Policy', and recommends this to anyone with the interests of the College at heart.
ANONYMOUS
Looking ahead, the spokesperson added: "Because of the malicious content and wide distribution of the most recently received anonymous letter purporting to be from staff at the Enniskillen Campus, the Governing Body unanimously agreed to seek to identify the author or authors of this correspondence.
An external agency will be appointed for this purpose.
"The Governing Body is committed to providing high quality further and higher education services in support of the local economy and community across the whole of the South West region. This will continue to be its primary focus."
