Colm Rowntree from Derrylin, who has a learning disability, decided to make his 18th birthday party a really memorable day.
Instead of getting presents, he asked his family and friends to mark the big day by making a donation to the charity that has supported him since 2005.
Positive Futures works across Northern Ireland, and Colm is supported by the charity's Lakeland Families Service in south-east Fermanagh. It provides specialist services for children, young people and their families.
Colm attends Elmbrook School in Enniskillen and takes part in after-school activities with Positive Futures. He enjoys sport, swimming and nights out with a Buddy Group, a group of young Positive Futures' volunteers who join up with people who use the service to head out to the cinema, bowling alley or a local restaurant.
Jo Corcoran, the manager of Positive Futures' Lakeland Families Service went along to Colm's birthday celebrations in the Donn Carragh Hotel, Lisnaskea.
"This is a wonderfully generous gesture by Colm, and it really sums up the spirit and outlook of the young people we support. On behalf of everyone at Positive Futures, I want to thank Colm and his family for turning the tables to support us in such a thoughtful and practical way".
Looking to the future, Colm has already made some exciting plans for, along with eight other young people from Positive Futures, he is taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Scheme. It involves skills training, community work, residentials, expeditions and a commitment to sport, including the Special Olympics.
