Burglary
surge in Kinlough

A community activist in the Kinlough area, which borders Fermanagh, has spoken out about the increasing number of burglaries in the area.

Thomas Kelly told the 'Herald' there was a widespread disgust and fear in the Tullaghan, Kinlough, Glenade and Rossinver areas as a result of the current spate of burglaries in the area.

"People have had their privacy intruded upon, had their homes ransacked, their property damaged and stolen in these raids.

The time has come for all elected representatives, clergy, and community groups to speak out at what appears to be the breakdown of law and order all across the country.", he added.

Mr Kelly also urged the victims of the burglaries to come forward and report the crimes.

"The lack of visible action by the government is a cause of concern. Victims are left feeling abandoned, some don't even bother to report these burglaries as they feel it is a waste of time.

I think anyone who has their property burgled should report it, have it recorded and get a copy of your complaint. You can do this through your solicitor if you want."

A Garda spokesman told the 'Herald' there had been two reported burglaries in the Kinlough between the 5th and the 10th of April.

"These are being investigated fully by local Gardaí, as are all incidents reported to An Gardaí Síochána nationwide", he added.
