Two local VIP's who are noted for their community endeavours, Patricia Mulhern and Maureen Muldoon were feted at a recent Age Concern dinner, arranged to acknowledge their many years of service.
At the event in the Railway Hotel, Enniskillen, both received gifts and were nominated, respectively, Honorary President and Vice President. Their achievements were outlined by Dennis Abram, the Branch secretary and it was left to the branch chairperson, Averil Dunlop to present the Certificates.
Over the past six months, starting in December, a Christmas dinner was held in the Killyhevlin Hotel for some 20 guests who were either resident in the area or were residents in local nursing homes. Members visited these Homes and provided festive entertainment for residents.
In march, an afternoon tea dance was held. Again, Nursing Home residents attended and, among the guests was Age Concern's Field Officer from the Belfast office, Margaret Woods. A very pleasant afternoon was had by all.
On 30th May, some 77 members of the branch went on a bus/shopping trip to the Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon and, on the way home, they stopped off at Corick House, Clogher. All had a very enjoyable day out, and the weather was very favourable.
The branch hope to organise a late Summer outing in September and a Christmas lunch in December.
All of these events are subsidised by Age Concern, Enniskillen. Fund-raising activities to this end included a fashion show in St Macartin's Cathedral Hall, car boot sales and several flag days.
