Paul Galbraith, from the Everglades in Enniskillen and a student at Portora Royal School, was a runner-up in the recent Vodafone Young Radio Rugby Commentator competition, run in association with Ulster Rugby, BBC NI Sport, and Sport NI.
Vodafone have been an official partner of Ulster Rugby for the past four years and initiated the competition to give young wannabe rugby commentators a chance to fulfil their dreams and perhaps become the next Jim Neilly.
Competition entrants were asked to submit a two-minute commentary from any rugby match, and four entrants, including Paul, were selected to contest the finals, which took place at an Ulster Rugby Magners League match. The competition judges were Mark Brooks of Vodafone, Ulster player Justin Harrison, Padraig Coyle, BBC Sport senior radio producer and Richard McCormick of Sport NI.
Paul Galbraith is 17, plays outhalf on his school's lst XV and represented Ulster at under-18 level last year. He regularly travels to Ravenhill to watch Ulster play and lists Isaac Boss and Stephen Ferris as his favourite players.
Paul is very enthusiastic about sports journalism and would very much like to make a career as a sports commentator.
