Tractor boys come to town

The 'Tractor Boys' are coming to town!

Actually, the comedy duo, who double as television presenters, Conor Grimes and Alan McKee, will be presenting their unique brand of humour tomorrow (Thursday) at Allen Johnston's, Drumarkey, Lisnarick, starting at 7.00pm.

The pair, who are being filmed as they go along for a BBC-NI series to be shown in the autumn, have been on the road since 11th June, starting in Larne and travelling on Massey Ferguson tractors, perform at the spot where they are staying overnight to put on their comedy sketches.

All going well, the Tractor Boys intend to have all six Northern counties covered by the time they end their unusual odyssey in the Annahilt, Co. Down birthplace of Harry Ferguson, the inventor of the Massey Ferguson.

Ceili notes

Last weekend, almost 40 dancers enjoyed a few days' break organised by Peter Hughes. On Saturday, the group went to Derry and visited the Bogside and other places of interest. They then travelled to Drummond Hotel, Ballykelly, where they stayed over the weekend. On Saturday night, they attended a ceili in Dunloy where over 100 others were present.

On Sunday, they visited the Famine Village in Donegal and after dinner they went to a ceili in Letterkenny.

On Monday morning, it was off to Ballycastle and also over to Rathlin island. On the homeward journey on Monday, they had dinner in the Royal Court Hotel, Bushmills, followed by a mini ceili. It was a wonderful weekend of good weather and good craic.

Ceili dates: Friday, 22nd June - Moville, Co. Donegal; Saturday, 23rd June - Silverbridge, Co. Armagh; Sunday, 24th June - Lifford, Co. Donegal; Friday, 29th June - Parochial Hall, Maghery; and Saturday, 30th June - Eskra, Co. Tyrone.

Final round of places for BASE project

The Ely Centre in Enniskillen has just announced it has a number of final places on their Youth Project Courses. The BASE project offers a multitude of activities and accredited courses to young Fermanagh people aged between 16 and 25 years.

The Centre has limited availability for young people interested in any of the following courses: YMCA Fitness Coaching, Business Administration, First Aid, Beauty Therapies, Indian Head Massage, SAGE Book-keeping, Hair dressing and barbering.

Courses are commencing in September at Fermanagh College and those interested in registering should contact the Ely Centre asap on 028 66320977 and ask to speak to a member of the BASE project staff.

Rebecca Burns, Project Manager, said: "Everyone has been very enthusiastic and so far the project has been an overwhelming success."

Erne Flower Arrangement Society

The President, Mrs Meissner, welcomed a good attendance of members and visitors to the AGM of the Erne Flower Arrangement Society held on 14th May in the Cathedral Hall, Enniskillen. She thanked the Chairman and the outgoing committee for their support during the year and congratulated Mrs Black on becoming the new President.

Mrs Meissner (outgoing Chairman) in her report, thanked the committee for their dedication and support during a busy year's activities within the club and all other members who helped out in any way.

The new committee are as follows: Mrs L Black, President; Mrs A Atwell, Chairman; Ms S Thornton, Secretary; Mrs E Graham, Treasurer; Mrs I Little, Assistant Chairman; Mrs S Irwin, Assistant Secretary; and Mrs L Bleakley, Assistant Treasurer.

The demonstrator for the evening was Hilda McClements from Comber, Co. Down. Her demonstration was entertaining and included a variety of designs from the title of "Escape with me". Mrs Black thanked Mrs McClements for a delightful demonstration. A cup of tea and biscuits were provided for everyone.

Mrs Black thanked everybody for attending and wished them all a pleasant summer break.

Marie Curie Cancer Care walk

Marie Curie Cancer Care will host their first 'Devoted to life walk' in Enniskillen next Wednesday, 27th June, at 8.00pm.The three mile walk will start at the entrance to Castle Coole. Participants can register from 7.00pm. Registration costs £10 and walkers are also encouraged to collect sponsorship money for the event.All walkers will receive a free 'Devoted to life' T-shirt.

Burglary in Derrylin

Police are appealing for information following a burglary where a house was ransacked at Drumanymore, Derrylin on Friday last, 15th June. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Prayer Guest Speaker

The Graan Charismatic Prayer Group are having a Guest Speaker, Tom McNulty, on Thursday, 21st June at 8.30pm in the prayer room. Everyone welcome.
